Hello and welcome to my website!

I am Colleen Haggerty. I love my kids, the underdog, half and half in my coffee and finding the perfect word.

I am a survivor. In my senior year of high school I was in a car accident which resulted in the amputation of my left leg. That was a long time ago and while I’ve tried to downplay the impact and significance my amputation has had on me, I’ve come to embrace that my amputation—and all that goes with it—is a main part of the event.

After my accident I made a vow to myself, not consciously, but a vow nonetheless, to make this experience mean something. After I left Catholicism, I explored other forms of spirituality, searching for the answer, but came up short. Since religion didn’t provide the answer, I figured I better find one out for myself.

I started to write after my son was born. While writing helped me understand myself, sharing my writing helped me to understand others and that we are more similar to each other than we are different from each other.

My blog is a way to share ‘our’ story, the one we all go through in one way or another at some point in our lives. It’s our shared story of resilience.

If you enjoy introspective, compelling stories that include an invitation to think about your own life, sign up today. I send out periodic posts to stir your heart and your mind.

I hope you’ll join me.
